There were bright performances throughout the Chelsea team that beat Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, and two of the stars of the 2-1 win spoke with satisfaction about the game afterwards.
Eden Hazard's stunning equaliser after the Merseysiders had taken an early lead moved the Belgian on to 10 goals for the season. He is the team's top scorer and is only three behind his total for the whole of last season.
'It is my objective to score and I know people say to me you need to score more goals. I work in the training to score in the games, and this game was good for me,' Hazard said.
'It was a very big win for the fans. Everybody knows this period is important in this country and playing at home as well, it is very important to win and to fight and take three points. It was a very good game, very difficult against a big team with big players, and we did it very well.
'We found the good passes and we worked well together. We try to be together no matter who plays up front, whether it be Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o or Demba Ba.'
It was Eto'o who started against Liverpool and scored the winning goal after a move in which David Luiz was instrumental, playing a well-flighted pass out to Cesar Azpilicueta which led to the cross, with Oscar involved as well before the final touch. David Luiz had been asked to play in midfield for the first time under Jose Mourinho.
'The manager took the option of me in midfield and everyone knows I can play in different positions so I tried to give my best on the pitch. I was happy with my game and the Chelsea game. I am happy when I can help the team,' said the Brazilian.
'Of course it is not very good losing a goal in the first minutes but there was a really strong mentality and the team gave everything on the pitch.
'Eden had a great game and when we have players like him in the team we can see amazing football. He is fantastic. He is one of the quickest in the world and he has fantastic feet, and he scored a great goal.
'Now we keep fighting to be at the top of the table and it is a long way to go but we will keep the same mentality.'
Hazard too is content just to be in the leading group at the halfway stage of the season. Next up is a New Year's Day match against Southampton. David Luiz is suspended for it after picking up his fifth booking of the domestic season on Sunday.
'We will try to stay at the top with Arsenal and Man City and we will see at the end of January or February where we are,' said Hazard.
'We know with Jose Mourinho we will try to do everything to win the league and we have a very young team but a very good team.
'We know Southampton are a very good team but we need to take three points to stay near the top.'
